约翰·克里斯托夫·威廉姆斯（John Christopher Williams，1941.4.24－），当代著名的古典吉他演奏家。生于澳大利亚墨尔本，10岁来到英国伦敦。他同时还参与合作众多通俗音乐的演出。他也是一位作曲家和编曲家。被誉为“吉他王子”。他是现代最著名的古典吉他演奏家之一，自1958年至今仍很活跃。

人物履历
约翰·威廉斯无疑是当今世界最受人尊敬的的吉他演奏大师。他1941年4月24日生于澳大利亚的墨尔本，四岁时，便从父亲那里获得了他的第一把吉他。当然，这样的“好运气”一般只有生在音乐家庭才能得到，小威廉斯的父亲莱昂纳多·威廉斯是一位小有名气的爵士吉他手。11岁时，小威廉斯的才华打动了吉他皇帝塞戈维亚，并被安排参加了大师在意大利的暑期课程。
1958年11月6日，约翰·威廉斯在他尚不足18岁时举行了他的首次职业性演出，在那场音乐会的节目单上，吉他皇帝塞戈维亚的一句“吉他王子光临音乐世界！”让威廉斯从此有了“吉他王子”的美誉。
1959年，约翰·威廉斯毕业于伦敦皇家音乐学院。随后，他一边受到母校的邀请主持吉他系的筹建工作，一边开始了他在多个国家的巡回演出，足迹遍及伦敦、巴黎、马德里及日本、苏联和美国等。1963年，他与现在的sony唱片公司的前身CBS唱片公司签约，至今，他在CBS以及后来的Sony唱片公司所发行的唱片已超过80张。除此之外，威廉斯与布里姆的配合也可谓是乐坛的一段佳话。两位风格迥异且都如日中天的演奏家很少能够象他们俩一样有着长年、默契的配合，并把古典吉他二重奏这一音乐形式带到了一个新的艺术高度。在二重奏方面除他俩之外，也许只有一些夫妻或兄弟的组合才能达到如此境界了。他和朱利安·布里姆的二重奏唱片都是在布里姆所签约的RCA唱片公司录制发行的。出了布里姆之外，威廉斯作为古典音乐界的核心演奏家之一，还与很多著名的音乐家有过合作，包括小提琴家帕尔曼，指挥家普列文等等。
父亲的爵士吉他手的背景使威廉斯并不象大多数古典音乐家一般刻板，60年代末期，他开始走出古典音乐圈，去尝试各种音乐形式。爵士、流行音乐、摇滚，威廉斯顶着来自各方的压力畅游在自己的音乐旅程之中。此间，他亦在各个领域创造了多项记录，包括唱片的销量、流行音乐的排行榜等等等等。1979年，他在古典阵营惊异的眼光中，和四个朋友一起成立了天空摇滚乐队，并度过了5年繁忙的时光（因为他仍旧在做着他作为一个古典音乐家所该做的事情）。
90年代以后，约翰·威廉斯似乎又恢复了他的古典大师的本色，年龄和花白的头发似乎也令他更加神采奕奕。此后他在Sony唱片公司所录制的唱片大多获得了超乎以往的更高评价。
1995年，威廉斯大师访华，并举办音乐会。2000年2月21日和22日，威廉斯大师再次来到中国首都北京，举办独奏音乐会和协奏曲音乐会，取得巨大成功，那也是很多中国的古典吉他爱好者心中永远难忘的两个美好夜晚。[1]
人物生平
约翰·威廉斯生于澳大利亚墨尔本，父亲是英国人（创立了伦敦吉他学校），母亲是澳洲华裔，墨尔本律师麦锡祥之女。曾师从吉他大师安德烈斯·塞戈维亚（Andrés Segovia），并曾在伦敦的皇家音乐学院
威廉斯（Royal College of Music）学习钢琴（由于该院没有吉他专业）。毕业后，他得到学校的邀请创立吉他专业，并执教两年。
威廉斯被认为是当代最重要的吉他演奏家之一，演出和录制过大量的古典吉他曲目。他曾与另一位重要的吉他演奏家朱利安·布里姆长期合作吉他二重奏。威廉斯曾委托多名当代作曲家创作吉他协奏曲，例如 Stephen Dodgson, 安德鲁·普列文, Patrick Gowers, Richard Harvey 和 Steve Gray。他也同澳大利亚的作曲家合作创作反映澳大利亚的本土音乐。
威廉斯曾为电影《猎鹿人》演奏了著名的主题曲卡瓦蒂纳（Cavatina）。 威廉斯注重与流行音乐和其它音乐类型的合作与交流。1970年代末，一度与他人合作创建了摇滚乐队“天空”，并灌录了一些古典-摇滚混合风格的音乐。[2][3]
