《The Pretender》是美國幽浮一族樂團在2007年8月21日所發行的單曲。於2007年3月~6月期間錄製。

音樂錄影帶由山姆.伯朗製作。影片內描述幽浮一族樂團在演奏時，被鎮暴警察鎮壓的情形。一開始，樂團開始演奏。之後，一個個鎮暴警察在樂團前面排成一直線，然後最後衝出去。同時，樂團後面的佈景也被鎮暴水車衝破，但樂團仍繼續演奏。

註1：知識即力量，權力更是容易與資訊掛鉤。擁權者為了保持自己的利益與操縱眾人，最容易實行的方式就是虛偽和欺騙，勾勒出幻象、隱瞞事實，用不切實際來吸引你跟隨，而這就是一切的開始。
註2：在這裡說的「the wheel」指得是上對下的階級關係、權力資訊不對等的勢力，也可以簡單用資本主義來表達。謊言和詮釋營造出的巨輪不斷轉著，不反抗、自安無知的人們就變成社會的小螺絲釘，被利用、被指使，而這一切會無止盡得重複下去。
註3：為何會說「我們只是暫時的」？就像本段歌詞開頭說到的，有人會說「這只是時間問題」，再有理想的人，在時間的力量下，終究會屈服於現實，變成權威體制底下的走狗、另一個待售的靈魂（因為出賣自己）。所以在擁權者的口中，我們的理想不是永恆的，都只是虛幻的、暫時的，但這都只是狗屁倒灶的謊言，都只是老調重彈（當然更慘的就是一再重複的事實）。
註4：在這裡說的「Left and right」可以指得是字面上的「我是被拋棄的、我是正義（正確）的」；也可以說是「一切」，因為左右包含了所有，指得是被欺瞞的多數。
註5：你是誰？你是偽善卻又想維持一切的權威、還是被欺壓但想覺醒的愚從者？[1]
