生平
邵玉銘生於，1938年11月3日黑龍江蘭西。畢業於國立政治大學外交系，獲"中心獎學金"。後取得美國芝加哥大學歷史學博士，曾任教於美國聖母大學及馬里蘭大學。後返台從政。1987年—1991年任新聞局長，於任內代表中華民國政府宣布解除戒嚴。1991年因個人婚外情問題而辭職。後於1999年—2001年任國民黨副秘書長、2001年—2003年任《中央日報》董事長兼社長。馬英九就任總統後，曾於2009年—2012年任外交部北美事務協調委員會主委。2013年7月29日，成為延宕30個月的公共電視文化事業基金會第五屆董事長。
曾任教於美國南卡羅萊納州新伯利學院、印第安那州聖母大學，歷任芝加哥大學遠東研究中心委員、美國"人文科學基金會"審查委員及評議委員，美國"亞洲研究協會"之臺灣研究會委員、美國華學協會理事及美國中西部華人學術聯誼會會長，並任政治大學、中山大學兼職教授。
- 1982年返台，初任政治大學外交研究所教授、《亞洲與世界》社主任，榮獲美國中國文化協會頒發的"中國文化獎"。1984年升任政大外交研究所所長，嗣任政大國際關係研究中心主任。1987年出任臺灣當局新聞局長兼大陸工作會報發言人。同年5月5月任臺灣當局新聞局長、英文《自由中國紀事報》發行人。1988年7月當選國民黨第十三屆中央委員。
- 1991年9月辭去新聞局局長職務，轉任政治大學外交研究所教授。1988年當選國民黨十三屆中央委員。
- 1994年複任政治大學國際關係研究中心主任。
- 2000年7月任國民黨中央副秘書長。
- 美國在臺灣問題上的一系列舉動，實質上將置臺灣於危地。邵玉銘說，美台關係不應基於它是"美國軍隊的前哨"之上。他說，我們"承受不起捲入這場爭鬥的後果。我們太弱小了"。無論從歷史、文化或地理的角度，還是從政治、經濟現實情勢的角度，臺灣未來的前途在祖國大陸，臺灣的安全取決於兩岸人民的密切聯繫和最終和平統一。
