西化，读音xī huà，与本土化是相对的概念，西化一词来自日本，属于舶来词，也是东方国家的特色词语。明治维新时期大规模使用，二战后的日本停止使用，并且采用现代化这个词，需要注意的是，西方国家的政府和民间社会（英美法奥西葡）并没有使用过这个词语。他们更多表达的是“现代化”。西化并不等同于现代化，就像普世价值不等于西方价值观。中国要实现的是“现代化”，不是“西化”。

解释

西化 xī huà

[westernize] 使符合西方标准或西方文化;成为符合西方标准或西方文化的状态

西化 xīhuà

[westernization] 指仿效欧美的制度、生活方式、语言文字等欧化。指在风俗、习惯、语言等方面模仿并转变为欧美人的样子。
