<p style="text-indent: 30px; line-height:30px">[[范光群]] 生於 （1939年3月16日－），日本台灣[[新竹州]][[新竹郡]][[關西庄]](今[[新竹縣]][[關西鎮]]）人，[[中華民國]]法界出身的政治人 物，曾做過[[臺中地方法院]]與[[臺北地方法院]]的法官。</p><p style="text-indent: 30px; line-height:30px">[[范光群]]在家中兄弟間長幼順序的排行第九，父親為在關西被譽為「十子登科」傳奇的[[范朝燈]]，兄弟包括台灣第一位獲得醫學博士的[[范光宇]]、 以及[[范光遠]]（有媒體報導范光遠是日本首位通過司法官考試的外籍人士，但此應係以訛傳訛的誤解，因世界上沒有哪個國家會讓外國人擔任法官。[[范光遠]]在日治時期出生，應係本其日本國籍 之身分考取日本司法官。）</p>

<p style="text-indent: 30px; line-height:30px">2001年6月14日，[[陳水扁政府]]的[[行政院]]組織了[[客家委員會]]，並延攬時任總統府國策顧問的[[范光群]]作為該委員會的主任委員。 </p><p style="text-indent: 30px; line-height:30px">2002年2月1日，卸下客委會主委的職務，重回總統府擔任顧問一職。並獲陳水扁總統任命，擔任中華民國臺灣省政府主席（此時的臺灣省政 府已虛級化）。</p>
