鄒詩鵬祖籍湖南長沙，1966年出生於湖北恩施，曾習醫並行醫8年(中醫)，後轉入哲學門，先後獲哲學碩士與博士學位(1993、1999，吉林大學)。現任復旦大學哲學學院教授，教育部長江學者特聘教授[1]，國務院第七屆學科評議組成員，教育部人文社科重點研究基地復旦大學當代國外馬克思主義研究中心研究員、副主任，全國經濟哲學研究會副會長。博士生指導方向：馬克思主義哲學發展史、馬克思主義與現代西方哲學、馬克思主義與中國思想傳統、唯物史觀與歷史哲學、馬克思主義社會政治哲學、現代性問題研究、國外馬克思主義研究。

1986-1990年在家鄉一家基層衛生院工作，任醫師及其管理工作
1993-1999年任教於東北師範大學政治學。
1999-2001年在武漢大學哲學系從事博士後研究。
2000年5月任教於華中科技大學哲學系，
2002年2月起任教授，曾任系主任等職。
2002年下半年赴美訪學。入選教育部
2004年"新世紀優秀人才"[2]。
2005年7月調復旦大學哲學系。
2016年4月當選2015年度長江學者。

1986年畢業於湖北民族學院中醫學專業
1993、1999分別畢業于吉林大學哲學系，獲哲學碩士、哲學博士學位
1999-2001在武漢大學從事博士後研究
2003年下半年在美國華盛頓特區價值與文化研究中心暨洛杉磯克萊蒙德過程思想研究中心從事訪學研究
