1980年9月-1984年7月,在安徽师范大学数学系学习。

1986年9月-1988年10月,在哈尔滨工业大学数学系攻读硕士研究生。

1988年10月-1992年1月,获得"中英友好奖学金"公派到英国Lancaster大学数学系攻读博士学位。于1992年1月获哲学博士学位。

1992年1月-1994年10月,在青岛海洋大学进行博士后工作,从事海洋资料同化研究。

1994年10月-1996年9月,在中国科学院大气物理研究所进行博士后研究。

1996年9月-1998年8月,在中国科学院大气物理研究所任副研究员,从事资料同化研究和自然控制论研究。

1998年10月-2001年2月,在日本气象厅气象研究所访问。从事日本科技厅的战略基础研究中的"黑潮变动的可预测研究",承担海洋新的资料同化方法的研究和开发工作。

2001年2月应聘中国科学院"吸引海外杰出人才计划"得到批准入选、回国,在中国科学院大气物理研究所任研究员,并被聘为博士生导师。从事大气、海洋资料同化和自然控制论研究。

2001年8月任所长助理。

2002年12月获得国家杰出青年基金资助。

2003年9月获中央组织部等表彰的"留学回国人员先进个人"荣誉称号。

2003年12月任大气所副所长。

2014年5月始任大气物理研究所所长。

2011年 8月1日上午,"2011年碳循环与气候会议暨第三届气候和环境北京国际暑期学校"在北京隆重开幕。 会议与暑期学校由中国科学院大气物理研究所、大气科学和地球流体力学数值模拟国家重点实验室(LASG)主办,来自国内外高等院校和科研院所专家以及气候与环境领域研究生、博士后和青年学者三百余人参加会议。

朱江作为主办单位中国科学院大气物理研究所副所长对与会学者和学员出席会议表示热烈欢迎。
