== 分佈 ==
亞洲象主要棲息地，為[[東南亞]]和[[南亞]]這些熱帶地區的[[印度]]、[[尼泊爾]]、[[斯里蘭卡]]、[[緬甸]]、[[泰國]]、[[越南]]、[[印尼]]和[[馬來西亞]]等十三個國家，大約四十四萬平方公里的土地上。古代從西亞的兩河流域，往東延伸到[[中國]]的黃河流域，都曾經有牠們活躍的蹤影。
現今[[中國]]境內就只剩下[[雲南]][[西雙版納]]和[[普洱]]一帶才能找到其足跡。過往可再分4個亞種：[[印度象]]、[[錫蘭象]]、[[馬來西亞象]]、[[蘇門答臘象]]。此外還有數個亞種，馬來西亞有一種亞洲象亞種—:-婆羅洲侏儒象，體型更小，是最近數年才被發現，還有不復存在的中國原生種:中華象<ref>[https://pedia.cloud.edu.tw/Entry/Detail/?title=%E4%BA%9E%E6%B4%B2%E8%B1%A1 教育百科 - 亚洲象]</ref>
