因之前的兩張單曲都出師不利，不只Capitol拒絕在美國發行此單曲，甚至連Vee Jee亦對之不肖一顧。Brian最後找到細公司廠牌天鵝唱片(Swan)來為他們在美國這邊發行此單曲。 單曲於1963年9月16日發行，沒有馬上流行起來，但當《I Want to Hold Your Hand》在美國引發起「披頭狂熱」後，銷量馬上突增，並於1964年2月1日打進40大，很快就爬升至第一位停留了兩個星期，在40大總共停留了14個星期。
