布羅德里克·克勞福[1]於1911年12月9日出生在美國費城，母親是著名的百老匯戲劇和好萊塢影片的喜劇女演員海倫·布羅德里克。在母親的影響下，他從小就開始參加歌舞雜耍劇和廣播劇的演出，並於1932年首次在紐約登台演戲。1935年在百老匯演出。1937年第一次登上銀幕，二十二年後才在影片《當代奸雄》中獲得當年奧斯卡最佳男主角金像獎以及好萊塢外國記者協會的最佳男主角金球獎。雖然此次讓他達到了事業的頂峰，但是由於他的戲路比較單一，在以後的影視表演中總是表演一些配角。1986年4月26日逝世。
