作者簡介

杭間(Hang Jian) (1961) es doctor, profesor y directoradjunto de la Academia de Artes y Disenode la Universidad Tsinghua. Graduado de la Facultad de Historia del Arte del Instituto Centralde Artes Aplicadas. Trabajo como redactorjefe de la revista Zhuangshi, fue decano de laFacultad de Historia del Arte de la Academiade Artes y Diseno de la Universidad Tsinghua,director adjunto de rutina de la Escuela deArtes y Diseno Cheung Kong, de la UniversidadShantou, e investigador invitado de altacategoria del Colegio de Arquitectura, Artey Planificacion de la Universidad Cornell, deEE.UU. 郭秋惠(Guo Qiuhui)(1979) es doctora de arte de diseno.Graduada de la Facultad de Historia del Arte de la Academia de Artes y Diseno de la UniyersidadTsinghua. En la actualidad cursa un post-doctorado en la propia institucion. Ha publicadoArtesama Tradiciona/ de China (coautora) yPersiguiendo la /uz de/ so/ (coautora).

序言

天有時，地有氣，材有美，工有巧。中國傳統工藝在世界各民族的物質文化史上有着獨特的美名。自漢代（前206－公元220）張騫（？－前114）出使西域，絲綢之路逐漸形成以來，中國的傳統工藝便源源不斷地通過中亞、西亞進入中東，而後進入歐洲，傳向五大洲四大洋。中國曆朝歷代的手工藝人，在外族入侵、兵荒馬亂的時候，往往能憑藉一技之長保住性命，成為文化傳播納使者。另外，工藝一直與中國的傳統哲學聯繫密切，公元、世紀前後的中國古代思想家們，就常常用工藝技巧來比喻、闡釋他們對國家治理和人生的種種思考。

這一切，都與中國獨特的地理位置以及所形成的漫長的、綿延不絕的農耕文化有關係。
