早期生活

愛麗絲‧華克Alice Walker與童妮‧摩里森Toni Morrison被並列為當代美國兩大黑人女性主義文學家。

个人生活

1965年，沃克与犹太民权律师Melvyn Rosenman Leventhal相遇。他们1967年3月17日在纽约市结婚。那年晚些时候夫妇搬迁到密西西比州杰克逊，成为“密西西比第一对合法结婚的跨种族夫妇”。^[8]^[9]他们受到白人的骚扰和威胁，包括三K党。他们夫妇1969年生了一个女儿Rebecca。沃克和她的丈夫于1976年离婚。^[10]

90年代中期，沃克与女创作歌手特蕾西·查普曼开始了一段恋情。^[11]^[12]
