劉心報教授主要從事運籌與系統控制、決策科學與技術、智能決策支持系統及其應用、信息管理與決策支持系統、複雜產品生產製造過程優化與決策等方面的教學與研究工作。他是國家自然科學基金委創新研究群體"互聯網與大數據環境下面向企業的決策理論與方法研究"負責人 ,先後主持國家863項目、國家自然科學基金創新研究群體項目、國家自然科學基金重點項目、國家自然科學基金面上項目以及企事業單位委託重要項目20餘項 。在springer出版英文專著《Optimization and Management in Manufacturing Engineering》,在POMS 、Omega 、EJOR 、IJPR、AOR、JORS、IEEE Transactions、計算機學報、系統工程理論與實踐等國內外重要學術期刊和學術會議上發表學術論文150多篇 。被評為安徽省高校學術拔尖人才,獲國家科技進步二等獎2項,教育部自然科學一等獎1項,中國機械工業科技進步一等獎1項,安徽省科技進步一等獎1項,安徽省自然科學二等獎1項以及國家級教學成果獎二等獎1項。
