其画早年醉心于[[吴昌硕]]，后又转师[[潘椒石]]、[[朱梦卢]]和[[任颐]]等人，画风改雄健浑厚为明丽清新，秀逸俊雅，加之他学过西洋绘画，能将水彩画的用色方法，融入花鸟画中，进而发展任颐等人在写意花鸟画中用粉的技法，形成了他柔和恬静、又浓丽典雅的绘画风格。
