沙森的父母是 Ragnhild Tomine 和 John Vincent Sasson，母親是 [[ 挪威 ]] 人。1972和1973年連續獲得壬色列理工學院、電機工程學士和碩士學位。1973年沙森進入伊士曼柯達公司工作，原協助他的上司加雷斯·A·勞埃德（Gareth A.
