馬夫拉伊出生於西德哈瑙，父母來自科索沃伊斯托克。他在 10 歲[3] 開始踢足球，1996 年他的第一家具樂部是 Sportfreunde Seligenstadt。然後他於 1997 年加入踢球者奧芬巴赫，在那裡他呆了六年直到 2003 年。他在 SG Rosenhöhe Offenbach 度過了 2003-04 賽季在加入 SV Darmstadt 98 之前，他在 2004-05 賽季為 19 歲以下球隊效力。他成為了 U-19 的關鍵成員，在 23 場聯賽中首發並在此過程中攻入 3 球，但他的球隊在整個賽季的 26 場比賽中僅取得 4 場胜利，排名墊底。
