Plants 25--65 cm tall. Rhizome 2--3 × 1--1.5 cm. Leaves 5 or 6; petiole 1.5--4 cm; leaf blade ovate, 7--9 × 3.5--5 cm, with purple marking adaxially, base subcordate or rounded.
