火炬树不仅不会引"火"烧身，还可做防火树种。火炬树枝叶含水率分别为30%、62%，其含水量与木荷相差无几，火炬树经长期驯化对土壤适应强，是良好的护坡、固堤、固沙的水土保持和薪炭林树种。[2]
