1669年[[威廉·羅素 (貝德福德勛爵)|羅素勛爵]]和蕾切爾·賴奧思利（Rachel Wriothesley）結婚後，貝德福德莊園擴建<ref>{{cite web |url=http://www.bedfordestates.com/the-estate/history/ |title=History of the Bloomsbury Estate|publisher=Bedford Estates |accessdate=15 July 2016}}</ref>。

18世紀科文特花園地區已經成為了有名的紅燈區<ref name=Burford>{{cite book|title=Wits, Wenchers and Wantons – London's Low Life: Covent Garden in the Eighteenth Century|author=E. J. 在1924年至1928年，間科文特花園由比切姆地產公司（Beecham Estates and Pills Limited）管理，此公司後來改名科文特花園物業公司（Covent Garden Properties Company Limited）繼續運營，仍屬比切姆家族。該公司逐步將其所有的地產賣出，1962年將餘下所有地產一起賣給英國政府建立的科文特花園局（Covent Garden Authority），售價3,925,000英鎊<ref name=shep48/>。
