Imagine Dragons主唱丹·雷诺斯表示，这首歌是他对过去的回顾，他曾经跟周围的一切格格不入，做音乐是其唯一的解脱，而他总是羞于跟其他人分享。对丹·雷诺斯来说，那段时期像是雷鸣前的闪电，他告诉自己要做自己热爱的事情，要到世界各地，为人们分享音乐，《Thunder》也由此诞生 。[2]
