白背麸杨（学名：Rhus hypoleuca Champ. ex Benth.）灌木或小乔木；产于广东沿海地区，湖南、福建以及台湾；生于海拔800-1500米的山坡、旷野疏林中。

灌木或小乔木；小枝圆柱形，紫褐色，幼枝被灰色微绒毛，后变无毛，疏生棕色小皮孔。

奇数羽状复叶长20-30厘米，有小叶4-8对，叶轴和叶柄被灰色微绒毛，无翅；小叶对生，纸质，卵状披 白背麸杨(10张) 针形或披针形，长5-9.5厘米，宽2-3.5厘米，先端渐尖，基部偏斜，全缘或略具粗锯齿，略背卷，叶面脉上被灰色微绒毛，其余稀疏或近无毛，叶背密被白色绢状微绒毛，侧脉约11对，中脉和侧脉在叶面微凹，叶背突起，网脉不显；小叶无柄。

圆锥花序长达20厘米，被灰黄色微绒毛，花小，白色；花梗长1-2毫米，被灰黄色微绒毛；花萼裂片卵形，长约5毫米，外面被微柔毛，边缘具细睫毛；花瓣倒卵状长圆形，长约2毫米，里面中脉被白色长柔毛，边缘具细睫毛；花丝线形，与花药等长；花盘无毛；子房球形，被白色长柔毛。

核果径约4毫米，被白色长柔毛和红色腺毛。

Shrubs or small trees; branchlets minutely grayish pubescent to glabrous, sparsely lenticellate. Petiole and rachis grayish tomentose, wingless; leaf blade imparipinnately compound, 20-30 cm; leaflets sessile, 9-17, opposite; leaflet blade ovate-lanceolate or lanceolate, 5-9.5 × 2-3.5 cm, adaxially gray tomentose along midrib, abaxially densely white tomentose, base oblique, margin entire to sparsely serrate, slightly revolute, apex acuminate, lateral veins ca. 11 pairs, midrib and lateral veins slightly impressed adaxially and prominent abaxially. Inflorescence to 20 cm, grayish yellow tomentose. Pedicel 1-2 mm, grayish yellow tomentose; flowers white. Calyx lobes ca. 0.5 mm, minutely pubescent, margins ciliate. Petals obovate-oblong, ca. 2 mm, margins ciliate, abaxially with white hairs along midrib. Male flowers with filament equal in length to anther. Disk annular. Female flowers with globose ovary, densely covered with white hairs. Drupe ca. 4 mm in diam., mixed pilose and red glandular-pubescent. Fl. Aug, fr. Sep-Oct.
