• 1991年当选为中国科学院院士。
• 2002年当选为欧洲科学院院士。中国科学院力学研究所研究员，曾任该所副所长，中国力学学会理事长等职。中国力学家。任中国科学院力学所研究员、非线性力学国家重点实验室学术委员会主任。
• 现兼任中国力学学会理事长，《中国科学》、《科学通报》、《力学进展》副主编，IJIE（International Journal of Impact Engineering）编委，国家自然科学基金委员会数理学部主任。
