'''Hans Christian Andersen''' (April 2,1805–August 4, 1875) was a Danish author best known for his fairy tales, which have become classics of world literature. Born in Odense, [[Denmark]], into a poor family, Andersen had a difficult childhood but showed a passion for storytelling and theater from a young age.<ref>[https://www.britannica.com/biography/Hans-Christian-Andersen-Danish-author Britannica ]</ref>.

He moved to [[Copenhagen]] as a teenager, where he pursued a career in writing despite many early struggles. Over time, he gained recognition not only for his plays, novels, and poems, but especially for his fairy tales. Works such as The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling, The Emperor’s New Clothes, and Thumbelina continue to captivate children and adults around the world.

Andersen’s stories often carried themes of hope, transformation, and the triumph of the human spirit, reflecting both his imagination and his personal hardships. He traveled widely across Europe, befriended many notable figures of his time, and became an internationally celebrated author during his lifetime.

Hans Christian Andersen passed away in Copenhagen in 1875, but his legacy endures as one of the greatest storytellers in history.
