由于常宁市地理气候条件优越，被全省列入重点示范县，今年全市计划种植油菜40万亩，通过推行“三熟制”，采用统一优选品种，合理安排农时，做到双季稻生产与油菜种植的互不冲突。在稳定发展“双季稻”的同时，大力发展油菜生产。同时该市农业局进行统一技术服务，技术人员上门入户到田进行指导，确保各项[[技术]]落到实处。
