1986年，搖滾名人堂授予菲利普斯終身成就獎，1987年的阿拉巴馬音樂名人堂，1998年的Blues名人堂和2001年的鄉村音樂名人堂。他曾多次在有關貓王的電影中飾演自己，例如《貓王》（Elvis，1979），《大火球》！（1989年），“走線”（2003年）。A＆E電視網絡在2000年發行了他的紀錄片《薩姆·菲利普斯：發明搖滾樂的人》。
