廖凱原先生是美國廖凱原基金會主席和美國國際軟件屋公司創辦人和主席。作為一家全球採購外包公司和主要的公司對公司解決方案供應商，國際軟件屋公司2006年被福布斯雜誌評為美國最大的私營公司第167位，年收入超過20億美元。廖先生目前正在上海興建兩座酒店：一座是六星級的Conrad上海酒店，一座是七星級的尊雅(Jumeirah)漢唐新天地酒店。

廖凱原先生是出生在印尼的美籍華裔，是美國私人企業「國際軟件屋」創辦人兼主席。廖凱原先生熱心於慈善事業。他是「世界經濟論壇」贊助人，「美國亞洲協會」董事，「博鰲亞洲論壇」2005年海南年會的主要贊助商之一。2010年10月，廖凱原捐贈一億元資助清華大學法學學科發展。2007年12月，廖凱原先生受聘為北京大學名譽校董。根據2005年4月、2006年12月的協議和此次補充協議，廖凱原基金會對北大承諾捐贈總額達2.242億元。
2005年4月，廖凱原基金會曾捐贈5320萬元人民幣用於建設北京大學政府管理學院的教學用樓，該樓被命名為廖凱原樓（Leo KoGuan Building）。
廖先生曾獲哥倫比亞大學國際與公共事務學院的國際關係碩士學位和紐約法學院法律博士（Juris Doctor）學位。
廖先生自2002年起任美國亞洲協會（Asia Society）董事，並設立基金支持「廖凱原美中關係項目」，以促進美中友誼。廖先生的慈善事業致力於改善全世界所有人的福祉。在中國，他希望增進高等教育的品質。他是上海交通大學名譽校董和上海交通大學凱原法學院名譽教授，同時也是北京大學名譽校董，復旦大學校董和復旦大學法學院名譽教授。
2010年9月10日，美國廖凱原基金會主席、美國國際軟件屋公司創辦人和主席、美籍華裔廖凱原與清華大學簽訂協議，為推動清華大學法學學科的發展捐資一億元人民幣。捐贈儀式在工字廳東廳會議室舉行。廖凱原、校長顧秉林、清華大學教育基金會理事長賀美英共同簽署捐贈協議。副校長袁駟主持捐贈儀式。
此次捐資意在支持清華大學法學院建設法律圖書館，建立「中國法治研究中心」，並設立講席教授、獎學金、獎教金等，以推動清華大學法學教育的發展。
Leo KoGuan is the Chairman of Leo Koguan Foundation, USA and the Founder and Chairman of Software House International, United States, a global procurement outsourcing company and leading business to business solution provider. In 2006 Software House International was ranked by Forbes as the 167th largest private company in the United States with annual revenue of over USD 2 billions. Here in Shanghai, he is building 2 hotels; one is a 6-star Conrad Shanghai Hotel and the other is a 7-star Jumeirah Hantang Xintiandi Hotel. He holds a Master of International Affairs from the School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University, and earned a Juris Doctor from the NewYork Law School. He serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of Asia Society, United States since 2002, and he endowed a fund to sponsor "The Leo KoGuan Program Series on U.S. - China Relations", promoting friendship between U.S. and China. He focuses his charity works on improving the well-being of all peoples in the world, and in China he hopes to better the quality of higher education. He is the Honorary Trustee of Peking University and the Honorary Member of the Board of Trustees of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is a Member of Board of Trustees and Honorary Professor of Law School, Fudan University.[1]
