1923年，37 歲的雷尼和派拉蒙唱片簽約，錄製首張唱片，此時她已是老練的表演家，在美國南方巡迴超過二十載，經驗豐富。1923-1928 年雷尼灌錄了一百首歌，包括經典的 C.C. Rider (又稱 See See Rider) 和 Jelly Bean Blues，還有幽默的 Ma Rainey's Black Bottom，與深沉的藍調 Bo Weavil Blues。

See See Rider 是 Rainey 最具代表性的歌曲，又稱為 C.C. Rider 或 See See Rider Blues 或 Easy Rider（諧音），是一首流行的美國十二小節藍調歌曲，See See Rider 使用最傳統的藍調歌詞，訴說被愛人背叛的故事，1924 年由 Rainey 首度錄音獲得版權，1925 年走紅，之後便由其他歌手翻唱，估計至少超過一百個版本，翻唱過的歌手和樂團有 Big Bill Broonzy、Mississippi John Hurt、Lead Belly、Lightnin' Hopkins、Peggy Lee、The Animals、Elvis Presley、Jerry Lee Lewis、Everly Brothers、Charlie Rich、Janis Joplin、Grateful Dead、Bruce Springsteen…
Rainey 的音樂生涯與許多優秀的爵士樂手合作，如短號手 Louis Armstrong 與 Tommy Ladnier，鋼琴手 Fletcher Henderson 與 Lovie Austin，薩克斯風手 Coleman Hawkins，黑管手 Buster Bailey。1928 年 Rainey 和 Papa Charlie Jackson 合唱，這是最後一次錄音，因為隨後不久派拉蒙唱片便與她終止合約，認為 Rainey 的歌已經過氣了。其實較正確的說法是，黑人藍調女歌手在 30 年代越來越不受藍調樂迷青睞，Rainey 在 30 年代逐漸淡出，不過由於存款頗豐，1933 年她便停止表演。
Rainey 返回家鄉哥倫布市，經營兩家劇院（The Lyric 和 The Airdrome），直到 1939 年心臟病發往生。1983 年入膺 藍調名人堂，1990 年入膺 搖滾名人堂。
