蔡昉，汉族，籍贯江西萍乡，1956年9月生于北京，先后毕业于中国人民大学、中国社会科学院研究生院。经济学博士。

现任第十三届全国人民代表大会农业与农村委员会副主任委员，十三届全国人大常委会委员，中国社会科学院副院长、党组成员，丝绸之路研究院理事长。

研究领域

主要研究领域包括："三农"问题的理论与政策、劳动经济学、人口经济学、中国经济改革、经济增长、收入分配和贫困等领域。目前正在主持国家社会科学基金重大项目《未来5至10年我国就业形势和就业政策》、中国社会科学院重大项目《老年化与中国经济增长潜力研究》、世界银行项目《非正规劳动力市场和经济转型：经济危机下中国的就业规则及调整》、加拿大国际发展研究中心委托项目《非正规性、贫困与增长：中国和印度发展进程中就业问题研究》、国家发改委委托项目《十二五时期劳动力市场状况与城市化预测》等。

担任职务

中国共产党第十八大代表， 第十二届全国人大常委，第十三届全国人民代表大会代表、第十三届全国人民代表大会农业与农村委员会副主任委员，第十三届全国人民代表大会常务委员会委员 ， 中国社会科学院学部委员。 兼任丝绸之路研究院理事长。

荣誉获奖

1998年，获国家级"有突出贡献的中青年专家"称号。

2003年，被7部委授予出国留学人员杰出成就奖。第四届中国发展百人奖获得者。第四届中国农村发展研究奖。被评选为"影响新中国60年经济建设的100位经济学家"之一。

2009年2月8日，与谭崇台、吴敬琏、刘遵义、姚洋、胡必亮等学者，获得第二届张培刚发展经济学研究优秀成果奖。
