兰迪13岁就开始接触音乐，大学期间，和著名的爵士乐鼓手[[比利·考伯汉姆]](billy cobham)合作录制了唱片。同时，兰迪也是高管人才，他在哥伦比亚唱片公司a&r部门（artist and repertoire）担任副主管长达8年，以及在mca唱片公司担任a&r部门资深副总裁4年。兰迪最受人关注的还是在热门电视选秀《美国偶像》节目里担任评委，因其专业而又风趣的评论而深受广大观众的欢迎。<ref>[http://www.xwie.com/news/NewsShow-15048.html 腾讯娱乐]</ref>
