==生平事迹==
亚历山大一世（Pope Alexander I），根据《教皇实录》的记载，亚历山大是罗马人。传说，他规定了祝圣房子以及祝圣圣水的礼仪，尤其是要求在祝圣圣水过程中加入食盐，用以驱逐邪魔。他还颁布命令，在弥撒礼仪中加入了所谓的“Qui pridie”，即特定的意向经文；在他的任期内，他祝圣了5名主教、6名司铎、2名执事。
关于教皇的逝世没有留下任何记载；传统上认为，他是因教难而被斩首殉道的。地点在古罗马城东北部郊区的诺曼塔纳大道（via Nomentan）。随同教皇殉道的，还有一位叫Eventius的司铎以及名叫Theodulus的六品执事。
有部分资料和传说记载，亚历山大教皇在监狱里，曾彰显奇迹；使监狱看守Quirinus of Neuss以及其姐Balbina皈依；还有的传说描述，他曾经使罗马总督以及他的整个家族皈依。但以上的故事都无法考证其真伪。

天主教会于每年5月3日纪念这位教皇以及随同2位殉道者。
